While Windows 7 has been leaked out on a consistent basis, you apparently need to know the secret handshake to get a copy of the 7MC SDK. I'm not sure why but my gut tells me this is why apps like ngRC are not working.. :)

Ok here's a more sensible question, build 7000 supports .m2ts files, so I can play .m2ts files from the HDD. But people are reporting it does not support Blu-ray disk playback from the optical drive. Will MS be adding full Blu-ray support? If not why not?

ngRC does not work on Windows 7, I've tried it, it's broken ! I like this idea as well for the touch screens.

My question would be one that you will probably already be asking...

How will homegroup work with Home Server and will there be an update to enable homegroup functionality on exisiting Home Servers or will we need a new version of Home Server?

Brilliant software, though I am using it on an asus Eee PC 901 with an added touch screen.

The i-phone interface was a bit small, but with some hacking of the template files and the ngrctools file I managed to make an interface I call Eee RC.

I have investigated this option, but rather than use USB tuners, I was planning to use the HD Homerun (DVB-T LAN tuner)when available in Europe. My WSH is a quad-core Opteron with 3GB of RAM, so should be up to it :-)

@kingtone - A LOT of people have virtualised WHS, that isn't the topic here...

Bad: Fiji TV pack for VMC wasn't released to the general public. Amazon mp3 announced that 2008 would be the year of going international, so far only UK is covered.

Good: Windows Home Server PowerPack 1 fixed the data corruption bug. Win7 might not be so far away as I initially thought.

Have HP changed the PSU to a passive design, or does it use the same sort of PSU that the original mediasmart came with? The original mediasmart PSU has a tiny 40mm fan and it's noise signature is very obtrusive.

The Good: hmm, not much. that plugin emucenter is pretty cool shame there are some irritating bugs but i'm sure it will get better in the future.

The bad. finding out that the next os has pretty much the same media center as the last one.

getting the impression that media center is just another app and not really being pushed anymore, shame.

A shame. I enjoyed TVTonic so much I was considering dropping my cable and just relying on that. I guess that leaves TVersity now, but it is so clunky by comparison. Media Center is fast becoming useless...

TV Pack was a disaster.

Uncertain upgrade future for those that have invested in OEM OCUR systems. (Both for TV pack and Win7)

No Sideshow devices materialized

The Good

More Extenders! (And price drops on them)

Let's hope 2009 is a better year for Media Center

Yes still no support for HD, the way TV-Pack was handled & hardly any support for system builders.

Everyone needs to back up her or his data because drives can fail at any time.

I tend to backup my data on several drives many times a week so I will not accidentally lose everything I hold dear.

Flash drives and portable hard drives are the best because they are small and cheap. Flash drives are more durable than hard drives, but only go up to 16GB. So, choose what you want to use based on how much data you expect to accumulate.
